Delft is a popular tourist destination. Many shops, restaurants and museums can be found in and around the old city centre (‘Poort van Delft’ and ‘In de Veste’). There is another commercial centre in ‘De Hoven’, situated at the crossing between Papsouwselaan and Martinus Nijhofflaan.

For a wider range of shops, the larger cities near Delft have plenty of shops within easy walking distance of the main railway station. In Rotterdam, shop are concentrated on the Coolsingel, Hoogstraat and Lijnbaan area. In The Hague, take a walk around the Stationsweg and Wagenstraat area to find shops selling international food products.

Generally supermarkets open from 8.00 till 20.00, or even will 22.00. Other shops close at 18.00, but may have one evening opening a week, in Delft on Fridays. On Sundays all shops remain closed in Delft, except on every first Sunday of the month (12.00 till 17.00).

Many shops in The Hague and Rotterdam open every Sunday.
