Advanced Prototyping

The faculties of Industrial Design Engineering and Architecture and the Built Environment developed this minor in order to offer both a broad foundation and in-depth knowledge of advanced prototyping. This provides insight into how and when these techniques can be applied in design processes. The minor covers both craftsmanship and computer-aided techniques, in a programme of multidisciplinary projects, guest lectures and workshops. The results can be incorporated directly into your portfolio.

Modelling, Rapid Prototyping and the hybrids between physical and digital forms play an important role in many design projects. There is a demand for a broad, interdisciplinary foundation in this field from both students and the business community.

For whom?
In principle, this minor is open to all students at the end of the second year BSc or equivalent level. Students of Architecture and the Built Environment and Industrial Design Engineering, as well as other faculties, are invited to register for this minor, so that a new interfaculty partnership can be developed. Some experience with 3D modelling (CAD) is an advantage.
Important: the programme can only accommodate 42 students! We strive for 1/3 IO, 1/3 BK and 1/3 other (TU Delft)  students. There will be an allocation formula in order to comply with the multidisciplinary character of this minor.
